This is an intense 65-second demo packed with energy, movement, and synchronization. Built around a track by Little Bitchard bearing the same name as the demo, it aims to capture the spirit of 1980s demo music.

Created by Merlucin at Breakpoint 2006, 80 Demosound is an intense 65-second micro-demo packed with energy, movement, and synchronization. At least, that was the intention. In reality, it's a buggy, under-optimized, Mac-PPC-only by-product.
The demo grew around a track by Little Bitchard / Kewlers, who was asked to provide some unused music. As it turned out, the shortest track he sent was the one that ended up being used. Unfortunately, he also sent it to other people, so a few other productions featuring the same music can be found out there.
Once the decision was made, Little Bitchard started mastering the track while Merlucin turned to the old-school channel on demoscene.tv for inspiration. There were plenty of great effects to explore, and he picked a few to recreate in OpenGL. Or at least, that's what he'd like to think. The reality was that the development tools kept crashing so often that only a limited selection of effects could be implemented.
Expect starfields, hierarchical wireframe cubes, fake plasmas, low-resolution polygons, morphing effects, retro screen borders, viewport transitions, and plenty of sync points and flashes. The production also gives its own credits preference over the greetings, just like in the early days of the demoscene.
Special thanks go to xphere / Spontz ^ Zon@ Neutr@ for the time and effort he dedicated to building the Windows version of the engine at the last minute, as well as for all his support. Thanks also to Ufix / Fuzzion for reminding Merlucin that, despite his code, arrays in C start at zero.
Last but not least, thanks to Little Bitchard / Kewlers for his support and quick responses, and to winden / Network for the ASCII logo used in the readme.
